After finishing up my last project, I took some time to reflect. It has been an AMAZING four years. I have loved building this business and giving my all to a handful of special properties.
I think a lot of success has come from following my heart and my mind. With that, I decided to try something a little different for this project. I bought a duplex in one of my favorite neighborhoods to renovate and rent. It was fun to put my own spin on this mid-century gem without worrying too much about whether it would appeal to buyers.
While I tried to keep to a more restrained budget, this was a big undertaking with electrical and plumbing upgrades needed in both units, two kitchen guts, two bath renovations, and two bathroom guts. I also refinished floors, made minor layout tweaks, painted interior and exterior, and removed not one, but two oil tanks!
Sometimes towards the end of a project, it's easy for me to forget the starting point. When I look back at this one (these two!), I feel especially proud to have made smart choices that ultimately resulted in high quality housing for two Portland families.
