I initially suggested this house to a friend of mine who was looking for a home on Portland’s West Side. When it didn’t work out for her, I decided to buy it!
Built in 1974, this 3,300 square foot home started out with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It was a great house, but it didn’t really flow. Different styles of decor and closed off spaces got in the way of this home’s potential.
The remodel plan was to create cohesion with all new flooring and lighting. The existing bathrooms were reworked and we added a third full bathroom to create a second en suite. We also replaced all of the downstairs windows, put in a new furnace and added AC. Finally, we swapped the location of the kitchen and dining rooms to improve the layout of the main floor.
Outside, there were some big changes as well. We took out some trees to reveal the front of the house. There is also a new driveway, walkway and retaining wall. A new cedar fence, a pathway and patio and a gorgeous new paint job (Black Beauty by Benjamin Moore) round out the exterior work.
Ultimately, this house revealed herself to be a stunner. I'd even go so far to describe her as sexy. Rejuvenation lighting and a custom stair railing at the entry are finishing touches that make this house stand out.
